Saturdays | 10 am–noon | de Young
This two-part series offers children ages 6–9 time to look, learn, and make art together supported by our team of Teaching Artists at the de Young. In the galleries children take part in a conversation-based tour and activities to gather inspiration for art making in the studio. In the studio, each child will investigate materials, practice art making, and share discoveries. Each two-part series highlights a different art-making technique and process.

Family Art Making
We offer free family programming at the de Young on Saturdays from 11 am–4 pm. Visit the drop-in Family Art Making tables to explore a theme related to the art in our permanent collection or special exhibitions. Family Art Making is free and open to the public (though museum admission is required for certain gallery activities). Check our calendar for upcoming Family Art Making themes.
Pick up a youth guide filled with plenty of activities for exploring the museum as a family. Sketch, design, and discuss topics related to the art and collections. Youth guides can be found on Saturdays at the Family Art Making tables. If you are a Family member, pick one up anytime whenever you check in at the Member Desk.
