Summer Art Camp
Summer Art Camp Closed 2021
Summer Art Camp at the de Young museum will remain closed in 2021 due to COVID-19 risks. The decision was made after consultation with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco’s COVID-19 prevention team and in accordance with California health and safety recommendations. The de Young’s classrooms are small and accessible only by elevator, putting staff and campers at risk. Programmatic and logistic overhaul would be required to adapt our indoor program to an outdoor one, an uncertain investment given the pandemic’s unknown timeline.
Our staff and teaching artists dearly miss the inspiration and creativity of young Summer Art Camp artists. With safety our main priority, we will continue to deliver virtual content to encourage curiosity through our ongoing biweekly de Youngsters Studio art-making videos. Tag us on any social media platform using #deYoungsters or email us your creations at families@famsf.org.
We look forward to welcoming families back on-site as soon as possible.
