In 2018 the Kimball Education Gallery will feature a new Art and Cognition Center—a free, accessible, and comfortable educational space designed specifically for young children and their accompanying adults. The Art and Cognition Center will provide a site for interactive play, learning, and discovery focused on the arts.

In tandem with this change to this gallery, the Artist Studio Program is being reimagined to encompass projects and experiences that reach throughout the entire museum, both inside and outside. This will allow the program to better engage with audiences and to feature the work of Bay Area artists working across various formats and disciplines in conjunction with our Contemporary Art Program.

Lynn Hershman Leeson: Vertighost, currently on view through March 25 at both the de Young and the Legion of Honor, celebrates one of the seminal Bay Area artists. More projects will soon be announced.

The Artist Studio program is made possible with major support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services’ Museums for America program.
