VIP Docent Tours

VIP Docent Tour guests skip the lines and are led by a dedicated expert docent through a customized tour. Gain an insider’s view of the special exhibition and an unparalleled opportunity to enjoy the art on view.
Reservations for private VIP Docent Tours are currently available for the exhibition Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power 1963–1983 as well as our permanent collections. Tours can be arranged for individuals and groups of up to 10 people, and are usually an hour long. Tours must be reserved at least four weeks in advance. Audio tours of the de Young's permanent collections are available from Antenna Audio. The audio tour is designed in collaboration with museum curators to enhance your visit to the de Young, and is written for both adults and children. A Spanish-language version is also available. Prices are $8 general, $7 members. The tour is free for visually impaired visitors, and a large-print script of the tour is available free of charge to hearing impaired visitors. Visitors may purchase tours at the museum or online with ticket purchases.
Audio tours are also available for most major special exhibitions at the de Young. Special exhibition audio tours are $8 general, $7 members.

Public Docent Tours

Free loaner devices are available for check-out at the information desk. A government-issued photo ID or passport is required as a deposit.
