Viva Frida! From the Blue House to the Catwalk at the de Young Museum | MODEL CASTING CALL
The de Young is looking for “Frida Kahlo” models to be part of a Jean Paul Gaultier–inspired runway fashion presentation. We are looking for models in two categories: Traditional Frida, and Frida Now, inspired by Gaultier’s fashion interpretations of the artist. To participate in this innovative project, come to the de Young Museum on Saturday, June 2, 1–4 p.m. in full costume and makeup as Traditional Frida or Frida Now.
We will be meeting in the de Young’s beautiful Piazzoni Murals Room (no admission required). If selected by the jury, you will be part of the Viva Frida! From the Blue House to the Catwalk show presented as part of our weekly Friday Nights at the de Young series on Friday, June 29, 6–8:45 p.m.
Contestants are encouraged to come ready to sing, dance, paint, or share whatever else their unique talents may be. Prizes will be awarded for the best “Frida” in both categories.
This event is curated by Rene Yañez and presented in partnership with The Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco and The Mexican Museum. Special thanks to Chloe Rose for her beautiful fashions created for this event.
