Special Lecture | "The Dutch Royal Family: A Historical Introduction"
This event is expired.
Jeroen Dewulf, Queen Beatrix Professor in Dutch Studies, University of California, Berkeley
Why is orange the color of the Dutch monarchy, and how do we explain the remarkable attachment of the Dutch people to this color? Why did the Dutch Republic become a constitutional monarchy in 1815? How did this monarchy relate to William of Orange, the founding father of the Dutch nation? And who will succeed Queen Beatrix as the new monarch of the Netherlands on April 30, 2013? These and other questions on the history and importance of the Dutch royal family will be answered in a one-hour presentation.
This lecture is free and open to the public. No reservations are required; first-come, first-seated at 6:30 pm.
