Making Scenes: Friday Nights at the de Young presents a night curated by 2012 Artist Fellow Monique Jenkinson (aka Fauxnique), presented in partnership with Dancers' Group and CounterPULSE
Our People with Monique Jenkinson
6:00–6:45 p.m. Watch from Wilsey Court, in Gallery 26 (admission required) & Piazzoni Murals Room
7:00–7:30 p.m. Wilsey Court
Collaborating with a group of talented performers, most of whom she knows through the queer club scene, Monique Jenkinson (aka Fauxnique) creates a dance/installation inspired by the work of Jean Paul Gaultier—his icons, his fetishes, and a light-hearted, humanistic irreverence. Our People explores difference, personal expression, personal history, political engagement, and the possibility of truly coming together on a dance floor.
What is the dance of your people? And what are you wearing to the club tonight? With Rotimi Agbabiaka, Joseph Copely, Justin Morrison, Lambert Moss, Maryam Rostami, Helen Shumaker, and Carlos Venturo.
Walk in and enjoy our public programs free! To view the permanent collection or the special exhibition, tickets are required. Tickets are required to view Our People in Gallery 26.
