The world premiere of the documentary film Ruth Asawa: Roots of an Artist tells the story of world-famous artist Ruth Asawa, who has been a tireless advocate for community art projects and art education in public schools. This film is a collaboration between filmmaker Bob Toy, Lola Fraknoi of Bethany Center, and the Academy of Art University. Asawa’s family and Toy, the film’s director, will be present to answer questions and to celebrate the life of the beloved San Francisco artist.

This Friday Night, construct a wire sculpture inspired by Ruth Asawa with de Young Artists.
