Major works from the William S. Paley Collection at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, are featured in this exhibition. A pioneering figure in the modern entertainment, communications, and news industries, Paley was the founder of CBS and a dedicated philanthropist and patron of the arts. Selections from his collection, on view at the de Young, range from the late 19th century through the 1960s and are strong in artists from the French School of Modernism. The exhibition includes works by Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Edgar Degas, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, Paul Gauguin, André Derain, Georges Rouault, Pierre Bonnard, Edouard Vuillard, and more.
Lecture is free to the public. Museum admission is not required.
