Both the de Young museum and Legion of Honor offer unique experiences for groups of all kinds. Visit a special exhibition, explore our extensive permanent collections, discover the architecture and gardens, and enjoy both casual and fine dining. It's a great place for groups to meet and learn about fine arts.

What is a Group?

A group is 10 or more people.

Located on the de Young’s main concourse and lower levels, the de Young Museum Store offers a vast array of art books and museum publications, distinctive decorative objects, jewelry, and home accessories, along with textiles, posters, prints, stationery, and educational children’s books and toys, all related to the museum’s permanent collections of American painting and decorative arts, art of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, textiles, photography, and works on paper.

Enhance your visit to the Museum with a tour of our permanent collection or special exhibition galleries. There are three tour options available for your enjoyment. Choose from a self-guided audio tour; one of our daily, public docent tours; or book a private, docent-led tour for your group of 10 or more.

Please note, we do not allow tours conducted by persons other than Museum staff or docents without prior written approval.

The following policies apply to the museum’s indoor and outdoor areas:

Standard-size backpacks are allowed. All bags, purses, and backpacks larger than 8" h x 8" w x 5" d must be carried by hand. To ensure the safety of the collection, the museum does not permit visitors to carry bags on their backs in the galleries. Bags larger than an average carry-on (approximately 41”) are not allowed in the museum and cannot be checked at the museum’s coat-check facilities. Small carry-ons may be stored at coat-check based on availability.

Take a break from viewing the exhibitions with a meal or snack at the café, which features a variety of dining options by McCalls Catering & Events, San Francisco’s leading purveyor of exceptional catering and dining.

The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are committed to offering services that make its collections, exhibitions, and programs accessible to all visitors. Programs and visiting options for individuals with disabilities as well as other underserved populations in the community are crucial for creating equity in access to the arts.
