An internationally renowned photographer, Hues hails from Detroit, Michigan, USA. He attributes his foray into photography emanating from an admiration of the work of successful expat photographers whom he followed enthusiastically in years prior to his professional pursuit.
In his debut publishing venture, Modest Street Fashion, Hues has photographed in excess of 400 style conscious candidates across the United States, Europe, Australia, Asia and the Middle East, encompassing over 20 countries and 35 cities, to create the first niche book of its kind to enter the Western market of Muslim community diasporas, though representing a global collection of fashion styles.
With a background in anthropology, Hues cites the global journeying he has undertaken, akin to a contemporary ethnography. Having observed the confluence of spirituality and fashion in his previous photography exploits since 2008, Hues decided a world tour could perfectly reflect the particular flare of women who blend contemporary fashion with their faith and personal style. Crucially, Huessignature street style portraiture has been met with great acclaim both within and outside of the United States.
Hues maintains his objective in creating Modest Street Fashion is not to regulate the definition of modest fashion, but rather document the global trend it represents. Through Modest Street Fashion, he has documented these women’s personal style through images as well as video logs on social media capturing conversations with subjects as they define modest fashion on their terms. Hues’ commitment to respecting the authentic voice of his subjects is testimony to the global acclaim and anticipation this book has thus far generated.
A photographer, artist, author, and actor, Hues delights in redefining the creative parameters that surround him. His signature zeal to embark on new frontiers indicates a passion for life and pursuits for achieving excellence, with every endeavour he embraces.
Importantly, with his successes Hues constantly affirms his connection to his hometown and community as the incentive to strive further. Indeed it is the energy of these affections that fuel Hues’ ability to scale new frontiers time after time.
