Faith Ringgold: American People brings together over 50 years of work highlighting the breadth and diversity of Ringgold’s artistic practice. In a long-overdue retrospective, this exhibition traces the development of Ringgold’s bold figurative style, from her early paintings of the civil rights era to her story quilts that challenged hierarchies of art and craft while foregrounding the Black American experience.
