Upon reopening, we are delighted to offer special opportunities for donors to visit our newest exhibitions. As we aim to make the in-person experience at the Museums as safe and comfortable as possible through new timed ticketing policies and limited capacity within special-exhibition spaces, we also want to ensure that we provide dedicated time for our generous supporters to enjoy these distinctive presentations.
Starting in October at the de Young, we will be open for private viewing hours on select Mondays throughout the fall and winter for donors at the Fellow level and above, Legacy Society members, Business Council members, and exhibition and programs sponsors. The Legion of Honor is currently scheduled to similarly reopen in mid-October.
Join us Monday, October 19, 11 am–3 pm, for our Donor Viewing Hours at the de Young to see Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving. The exhibition examines how politics, disability, and national identity influenced Kahlo’s diverse modes of creativity. The exhibition features highly personal items that came to light in 2004 at her lifelong home, La Casa Azul (now Museo Frida Kahlo) in Mexico City, alongside paintings and drawings that span Kahlo’s career. Together they illuminate the complexities of Kahlo’s iconic self-fashioning and her bold and uncompromising art.
Donor Viewing Hours for Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving will also take place on Monday, November 9, 11 am–3 pm.
Complimentary timed tickets are required and we encourage you to use your membership number to book these online in advance and ensure you can visit at the most convenient time for you.
