Herbst Exhibition Galleries

Donors at the Fellow level and above, Legacy Society members, Business Council members, along with exhibition and program sponsors are invited for an exclusive opportunity to view Calder-Picasso on select Mondays throughout the run of the exhibitions.

Calder-Picasso is the first major museum exhibition to explore the artistic relationship between Alexander Calder and Pablo Picasso, two of the most innovative and influential artists of the 20th century. In more than 100 paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs – including many iconic works – the exhibition presents a compelling visual conversation centered around the artists’ exploration of the void, or the absence of space, which both Calder and Picasso defined from the figure through to abstraction. With its US museum debut at the de Young museum, the exhibition will then travel to the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, and thereafter to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Complimentary timed tickets are required and we encourage you to use your membership number to book these online in advance to ensure you can visit at the most convenient time for you.

Please note: reservations to view Calder-Picasso do not include admission to Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving. If you would like to view Frida Kahlo, you must make a separate reservation during public hours or join us for our Thursday evening Donor Viewing Hours on April 1 (from 5:30–7:30pm).
