Access Days provide the opportunity for visitors with special needs to experience our special exhibitions when the museum is closed to the general public. Access Days feature extra blue parking spaces, extra seating inside and outside the exhibition, portable large-print editions of exhibition labels, docent-led tours, audio tours (free for visitors with low-vision or that are blind), and printed versions of the audio tour script. Wheelchairs, folding stools, ASL interpretation (request two weeks in advance), and materials in alternative formats are available upon request.

In the first exhibition at the Fine Arts Museums dedicated to the work of Paul Gauguin (1848–1903), an exceptional display of more than fifty of his paintings, wood carvings, and ceramics from the collections of the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Copenhagen, will be on view for the first time in San Francisco. Gauguin: A Spiritual Journey presents these pieces alongside Oceanic art and Gauguin works on paper from the Fine Arts Museums’ permanent collections.
