Located in the heart of Golden Gate Park, the de Young Museum is one of San Francisco's premiere event venues. A San Francisco cultural institution since 1895, the de Young was completely renovated into a state of the art facility integrating art, architecture, and the surrounding natural landscape.

In addition to the beautiful event spaces, our exceptional galleries and special exhibitions may also be rented for private viewing.

The de Young museum provides a number of spectacular event spaces. From the expansive Wilsey Court to the intimate Hamon Tower, the de Young is perfect for any corporate event.

The museum is available for a wide variety of events—whether you plan to host a gala for 2,000 or a VIP reception for your top clients, the de Young can accommodate your needs.

Entire Museum

Rental of the entire building includes access for your guests to the entire museum including all of the galleries on all three levels. Food and beverage are not allowed in the gallery spaces but are allowed in Wilsey Court, Main Lobby, Piazzoni Murals Room, Café, Terrace, and Tower. Dancing/Entertainment is allowed in any of the above listed spaces.

Wilsey Court

The premiere event space inside the museum for larger receptions and banquets is Wilsey Court. The Wilsey Court and John Buchanan Lobby comprise the central artery of the de Young and can accommodate up to 400 seated, with room for dancing, stage, and bars. The expansive space with its soaring ceiling is easily transformed serves as a canvas on which you can create any style of event. From awards dinners to strolling food station events, Wilsey Court is a very versatile event space option.

Hamon Observation Tower

The Hamon Observation Tower is a spectacular glasswalled space with 360 degree panoramic views of downtown San Francisco, Golden Gate Park, the Bay, and the Marin headlands. Available as its own event space or as an add-on to a larger rental package, you can start guests off with a cocktail reception to watch the sunset, before making their way downstairs to Wilsey Court or the Piazzoni Murals Room for a dinner.

de Young Café and Terrace

The de Young Café provides the only indoor/outdoor rental space. Located adjacent to the Barbro Osher Sculpture Garden, the Café features hand-blown glass light fixtures, modern design elements and glass walls providing views onto the Music Concourse and garden. The de Young Café rental includes use of indoor and outdoor Café tables and chairs. Guests enter via the Cafe Entrance off Tea Garden Drive.

Piazzoni Murals Room

The Piazzoni Murals Room is a warm and welcoming event space perfect for a more intimate reception, seated dinner or seminar. It can also be combined with the Wilsey Court rental for use as a lounge or specialty bar off of the main event space. The Piazzoni Murals Room is also the only space available for daytime rentals and is equipped with AV capabilities.

Koret Auditorium

The Koret Auditorium is a beautiful state of the art theater with a hardwood floor stage and large, leather seats. Spanning two levels of the museum, the auditorium is accessible from both the Concourse Level and the Lower Exhibition Level. The auditorium is available for both daytime and evening rentals. In the evenings, additional event spaces may be rented in conjunction with the Koret for intermissions, or pre or post-performance receptions. Guest entry depends on additional event spaces rented.
 

No food or drink is allowed in the Koret Auditorium.
