Enhance your visit to the Museum with a tour of our permanent collection or special exhibition galleries. There are three tour options available for your enjoyment. Choose from a self-guided audio tour; one of our daily, public docent tours; or book a private, docent-led tour for your group of 10 or more.
Please note, we do not allow tours conducted by persons other than Museum staff or docents without prior written approval.
Audio tours of the de Young's permanent collection are available from Antenna Audio. The audio tour is designed in collaboration with the museum's curators to enhance your visit to the de Young, and it is written for both adults and children. A Spanish-language version is also available. Prices are $8 general, $7 members. The tour is free to visually impaired visitors, and a large-print script of the tour is available free of charge to hearing impaired visitors. Visitors may purchase tours at the kiosk near the admissions desk located in the main lobby or online.
Audio tours are also available for most major special exhibitions at the de Young. Special exhibition audio tours are $8 general, $7 members.
Regularly scheduled docent tours are available Tuesdays through Sundays. Tours are free after museum admission, with no reservations required. You are welcome to join the tours in progress. See the de Young events calendar for times and details.
Private Docent-Led Tours
Private docent-led tours of the permanent collection and special exhibitions are offered to groups of 10 or more guests. Docent-led tours must be arranged four weeks in advance. Tours are usually 45 minutes long. Tours can be reserved by calling the Group Sales department at (415) 750-3620 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
