Private VIP Docent Tours
Experience an unforgettable and immersive view of our permanent collection and special exhibitions with a private VIP docent tour. Guests skip the lines and are led by their own expert docent for a customized tour, offering an insider’s view of the museum and unique opportunities to enjoy the art on view.
Private VIP docent tours are currently available for either Frank Stella: A Retrospective or our permanent collection. Tours can be arranged for individuals and groups of up to 10 people, and are usually an hour long. Tours must be reserved at least four weeks in advance and are $250 per tour. Audio tours of the de Young's permanent collection are available from Antenna Audio. The audio tour is designed in collaboration with the museum's curators to enhance your visit to the de Young, and it is written for both adults and children. A Spanish-language version is also available. Prices are $8 general, $7 members. The tour is free to visually impaired visitors, and a large-print script of the tour is available free of charge to hearing impaired visitors. Visitors may purchase tours at the kiosk near the admissions desk located in the main lobby or online.
Audio tours are also available for most major special exhibitions at the de Young. Special exhibition audio tours are $8 general, $7 members.
Regularly scheduled docent tours are available Tuesdays through Sundays. Tours are free after museum admission, no reservations required. You are welcome to join the tours in progress. See the de Young events calendar for times and details.
Please note, we do not allow tours conducted by persons other than Museum staff or docents.
