A Taste for Modernism | Live music by Dgiin | Friday Nights at the de Young

Dgiin

Wilsey Court

Dgiin—a band with a unique style that brings together various cultures and influences with songs sung mainly in French and an intoxicating beat—started nine years ago in the North Bay. Its music can be described as French-Gypsy-funk with a twist, or flamenco-Django-esque. Either way, they put on a memorable show for all who love to share music and a little spirit. Dgiin’s members hail from France, California, and Quebec and have settled in Sonoma County, California. Their music ranges from Paco de Lucia flamenco to Django Reinhardt gypsy guitar and violin with spirited beats and unforgettable vocals á la Edith Piaf. Most songs are originals, with a few popular French modern and traditional numbers as well as covers from American folk. Language barriers are not a problem due to their raw transcending performance that will shake up any crowd.
