Special Classical Concert

This event is expired.

The Netherland-America Foundation Southern California Chapter and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco present the 2013 Prinses Christina Concours in San Francisco, featuring

Elvire Beekhuizen, soprano
Lisa Eggen, viola
Sebastiaan van Bavel, piano (jazz and classical)

"Once more we are proud to present you with three young talented musicians from the Netherlands. The yearly United States and Canada tour of our prize winners has become a tradition which strengthens the links between the Dutch people on both sides of the ocean. This tour will be a very special one as it coincides with the coronation of King Willem-Alexander on April 30. As Prinses Christina Concours we keep working to stimulate children and youngsters to make music, and to support the talented among them. Our activities do not only concern classical music, but also composition and jazz. For the first time this year you will be listening to a winner of both the classical and jazz competitions, who also writes his own compositions! Although times are not easy for cultural organizations, we feel positive about the future. Listening to young people playing such beautiful music gives us energy to keep on working to help them make their dreams come true. The American tour is one of the dreams which has come true!

"We would like to thank all those who have made this concert tour possible: The Netherland-America Foundation, the Dutch honorary consulate in Los Angeles, the general consulates in San Francisco and Vancouver, KLM for the funding of the international air tickets, the families who are offering their hospitality to our students, and, last but not least, Dick and Yvonne van Hoepen for all their work and enthusiasm year after year…. We hope you enjoy the concert!"
—Mark Vondenhoff, Managing Director, Prinses Christina Concours
