A Night of Menswear in partnership with the East Bay Express | Special Lecture with Ben Ospital
Ben Ospital, Modern Appealing Clothing
Koret Auditorium
"Fine and Dandy":
Ospital's lecture is a short history of dandyism from Wilde to Gaultier and beyond. The lecture will focus on the role of the dandy as an important muse for menswear fashion trends. The talk will start with a short history of dandies as outsiders and mainstream provocateurs of culture in rock and roll and in fashion: Oscar Wilde, Liberace, the Beatles, David Bowie etc. Then Mr. Ospital will trace Jean Paul Gaultier's influence and the new generation of fashion designers following him, including Rei Kawakubo, Walter van Beirendonck, and Dries van Noten.
Ben Ospital is the founder of Modern Appealing Clothing.
