María Volonté: Blue Tango Tour
This event is expired.
A collaboration between celebrated Argentine tango singer María Volonté and California harmonica player Kevin Carrel Footer, the Blue Tango Tour is a groundbreaking exploration of the emotional and musical crossroads between tango and the blues. This globe-trotting duo celebrates the deep spiritual bond between two musical genres born in desire and marginality, often censored yet always resurgent, and that speak directly to our hungry souls. Volonté's voice and guitar fill the stage with echoes of tango's forbidden pleasures while Footer's harmonica whines with the lament of solitary blues.
Winner of the Gardel Prize, a Latin Grammy nominee, and a member of the Tango Hall of Fame, María Volonté is an Argentine singer-songwriter celebrated for the intense passion and beauty of her songs as well as for her charisma and sensuality on stage.
Kevin Carrel Footer learned to play harmonica while hitchhiking across the United States on a pilgrimage to the Mississippi Delta, birthplace of the blues, and later lost himself in the milongas and cafés of Buenos Aires.
Public programs are free and open to the public.
