Docent Lecture: "With These Hands: Southwest Pottery," Jill LeCrone
Rose Chino, storage jar (olla), mid-20th century. Earthenware and pigment. Gift of Paul E. and Barbara H. Weiss, 2007.75.3
Koret Auditorium
Early Southwest pueblo pottery was used for religious and utilitarian purposes, and pueblo women handed down techniques for creating pottery from generation to generation. Today, pueblo pottery has evolved into a fine art that is collected and admired, such as the pottery on view at the de Young Museum.
