San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music, in collaboration with the de Young Museum, Intersection for the Arts, and Other Minds, presents a day-long concert series performed by the Bay Area’s top music ensembles.
Whether you are a music aficionado or are exploring chamber music for the first time, Chamber Music Day offers a rich assortment of pristine compositions played by 33 of the best classical, world, and jazz ensembles in the Bay Area. Staged throughout the galleries of the de Young Museum, Chamber Music Day is a family-friendly event that invites you to savor your favorite musical style and discover something new.
“I liked the variety of composers/styles and the exposure to local music groups, some of which I know only by name. I was expecting ‘safe’ and standard selections. I like the come-and-go aspect. Thank you.” —Pilar, 27
“I’ve never been to a mixed-genre concert like this. Piano jazz followed by Beethoven String Quartet! Do it every Sunday!” —John, 64
“The program demonstrated to me how the “traditional” chamber music nurtures and flows into all the music of the world.”—anonymous, 49
The lineup of performer has been selected by four curators—Renee Baldocchi, Katherine Bukstein, Kevin Chen, and Adam Fong.
