International Conservation Interns
Internships are a crucial part of the education and training of conservators. This year, the Museums hosted three graduate interns in conservation from three different countries, allowing us a unique opportunity to discuss conservation training from an international perspective.
From January to February, 2011 Tegan Broderick interned in Objects Lab. Tegan Broderick was a student in the Master of Cultural Materials Conservation course at the University of Melbourne, Australia, and graduated in March 2011. During her one-month internship, she focused on the installation of the exhibition Olmec: Colossal Masterworks of Ancient Mexico.
Erin Stephenson and Stephanie Ricordeau interned in the Paintings Conservation Department. Erin is completing her Master of Arts and Certificate of Advanced Study in Conservation through SUNY Buffalo State College and has been treating a sixteenth century European painting by Jakob Seisenegger that came into the Museums' collections from the Kress Collection. Stephanie is in the Master’s Program for Conservation-Restoration at La Sorbonne, Paris, France and has conducted treatments on on modern and contemporary works by artists such as Bruce Conner, Diego Rivera or from the Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design.
