Live Music by Awesöme Orchestra Collective
This event is expired.
The Awesöme Orchestra Collective is the Bay Area's most adventurous new orchestra. Its mission is to seek out musical adventures and find innovative ways to make orchestras more accessible to our communities.
Founded by conductor David Möschler in spring 2013, the Awesöme Orchestra is a loose collective of more than 600 Bay Area musicians and artists of all kinds. It holds regular, open orchestra rehearsals ("sessions") every month at various nontraditional rehearsal spaces throughout the Bay Area. In the last year they have held more than 25 free, open sessions and played more than 60 large-scale orchestral works of all genres and, including film music, Sly and the Family Stone songs, video game music, songs by great Bay Area bands, and lots of great traditional orchestral music. Over half of its pieces are by living composers and a quarter of them are premier readings of new works and arrangements, most of which are by local Bay Area composers.
