See an excerpt from the soon-to-be-released film First Friday, a documentary film by N’Jeri Eaton & Mario Furloni.

In the same year, Oakland was rated one of the top five destinations in the world and one of the most dangerous cities in America. Once a month, these two realities collide at First Friday. The event has become a symbol of Oakland’s renaissance. But after a teenager is murdered, the future of First Fridays is threatened. First Friday is an observational documentary that presents a multifaceted view of the city. Our many characters are representative of the varied socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic composition of the city. The films follows these subjects' separate paths and how they intersect over the course of an evening.
